I was wondering if anyone out there has had the opportunity to hear the new paradigm SE1's? My dealer said they will not be displaying them because there is not enough space. I have a 12'x20'8' room with a B&W asw600 sub. I was originally looking at studio 20's but I think they are a little out of my price range considering I will have to be replacing my center channel to match the studio series or SE series. Anyone out there heard them or own them that would be able to enlighten me on the sound of these?

I had a listen to them in a store near my house on the weekend. I had read about them in the latest issue of hometheatre and found a dealer that was close. I only heard the rears/bookshelves - they were in a 2.0 setup along with a comparable Tannoy model.

I thought the SE1s covered the high and low end well and was impressed for their size. The sales guy flipped to the Tannoy's to compare - the Tannoy's definitely covered the mid-range better than the SE1s, but didn't have as much of the low end. From a musical sense I thought the Tannoy's were better because of their better mid-range. Something to consider if you're looking at a music setup or a movie/hometheatre setup.

They didn't have a 5.1 setup unfortunately which is what I was really there to try out. The build quality looks great!

the main thing I am wondering about is how well the SE's compare to the studio 20's because I have heard those and do like them, I am just wondering if I could save some money and get the SE1's to replace my paradigm titan v.3's. Or is there a huge difference between the sound in the 20's vs the SE1's that I should try to find 20's online

If I end up back at that store soon, I'll check out the 20's. I saw them there but I don't think they had them hooked up to anything. I'll keep you posted if I end up hearing them.
