I have a 340 square ft. room, my rich friend just found out he oredered 4 too many Paradigm Monitor 7's for his new home, he will sell me all four for a grand. Would I be able to use these in my room, in other words are they too much speaker to use as my back speakers? I am sure they would be a good front speaker... help appreciated

Wow dude you lucked out. The 7's will easily feel that room w/reference level sound provided you feed them a good clean signal. What version are they? The v.3's and the v.4's are awesome to say the least. Really dont think the 7's would be too much as I dont believe that is possible. In other words, you cant ever have too much when it comes to sound imho. Of course when you do just lower the levels a bit and you will be fine. The cc-370 v.3 and/or v.4 will have a hard time keeping up with those (2) sets of the Monitor 7's. What do you plan on using as a center? Congrats dude you are one lucky guy.

Which version of the Monitor 7's do you have? If you look on the back close to the speaker terminals it will tell you. Personally, I am NOT too fond of the cc-370 v.3 or v.4. I would opt for using a Mini Monitor while keeping it upright. But that is me-I am not the end all so to speak. But to be honest the cc-370 is the weak link of the Monitor Line.

Congrats on the monitors.. Did you get the .v4 or Newer model .v5's ?
I would as well as many others here will strongly suggest you get a matching Center Channel for timbre equalization across the front 3 speaks..
Look for another Monitor series Center... The New monitor 290 & 390 are getting great reviews.. and with the savings you got with those 7's would be worth it to swing for them...

Check online for subs.. best bang for your buck.. SVS, HSU, AXIOM just to name a few... I just got SVS for the prettiness factor, as well as the gut wrenching bass.. :)

The New Monitor Series speakers would NOT be timbre matched to the v.4's. Different drivers altogether. As I already mentioned the cc-370 v.3 and the
v.4 is the WEAKEST link in the Monitor Series. Why not use a Mini Monitor or better yet (2) of them? Lots of people use a set like that one above and one below their tvs. It is best, however, to keep them upright if at all possible.

I got a CC center when I bought my Studio 20's and hated it. As someone else mentioned, if it were my setup, I would get a single Monitor 3 or a single Monitor 5 for a center. I am using a single Studio 20 for center and am very pleased with it.

Had the Monitor 9's then moved up to 11's, now have the Studio 100's. Friend has the 7's, great speaker. 100's run only about 2 grand the 11's around 900 to 1000, the 9's are 700, the 7's are a bit less. You hit the jackpot pal. I have no quams with the Paradigm centers, Ive powered them with Rotels, Carvers, Marantz's and even gas amps. Their a solid efficient speaker, although a mini monitor or a bit bigger 3 would do just fine also. With the money you saved on the 7's you can affford to shop around. Good luck.

This was sometime in 2001 and there was only one choice for the center if I remember correctly. Others have loved the CC center, use what sounds best to you.

I too hate the CC-170 and CC-370. I honestly hardly even noticed a difference between the two. Considering that this is when I downgraded from the 370 to the 170 and I hardly noticed a difference, I was even more disapointed with it. Also consider that I could have had the 370 for $50 and I don't think it was worth it because mine is just as good(err bad...however you wish to think about it).
