Paradigm CC-390 Opinions?

I have an opportunity to buy a paradigm cc-390 for relatively cheap. I have other paradigm speakers and have been impressed. I have never heard one of their centers. I currently do NOT have a center channel, so this seems like a smart thing to do. Does anyone have any experience with these? Thanks.

I have the 290 and love it. It replaced the 190 and was a huge improvement so I'd suspect the 390 will be even more so.

It's not necessary that I pair it with other Paradigm speakers is it? I rotate speakers a lot lol..

It's not necessary, but it would be recommended. If the L/C/R are not timbre-matched then it can sound weird if you're watching a movie and the effects (or worse yet dialog) pans from L to R or vice-versa. Their voice will potentially change tone and that will really rip you out of the movie quickly.

If you're committed to changing speakers often (and who am I to judge... I've done the same thing numerous times) I'd either forgo the center and deal with the 'phantom center' limitations - or go with a voice-matched L/C/R setup and save your speaker-swappage to a secondary 2ch setup. That's been my solution.

They sound exactly like the matching speakers you have...? Assuming that you have the matching speakers that is...

I have the CC-190 and it is a great center. I had limited room, but if I could, the 390 would be there instead.
