After a lot of Pandora listening last night, I'm very pleased. Good looking interface, thought a little sluggish responding to keyboard entries via the Oppo remote. The audio output from the Pandora App is not limited to digital only. It outputs to all outputs. I'm running digital out via the extra HDMI to my receiver for the mains, and I have the balanced analog outs going to my 1, 2 & 3rd zones.

Unrelated note, but I can hijack my own thread I guess. Quick plug in for Spotify if you all haven't tried it yet, it's pretty awesome. Download the application and you have free searching and playing of music of your choice (legally!!!). Check it out. It was big in Europe and just was released in the last month here in the USA. If you want to hear a certain song, just type in the artist or song name and there you go. Double click the song, and it's playing. Onkyo is putting Spotify in some of there units now. Hope that catches on too.

Good day,
Brad

I take it the sound quality of Pandora is acceptable to you. There's another thread going on about the quality being not so hot. This leaves me scratching my head. What is going on here?

Edit: It matters to me because I currently am lusting after the 93 Oppo.

Ha! Good point. I just use it mainly for the outdoor speakers, and I think it does great for those. I've been working on the back porch & putting up a new fencing & etc...,so I'm out on my back porch a lot more the last couple weeks. :)
I upgrade to a paid membership to get better quality on Pandora, but I still don't use Pandora on the main stereo set up.

I see how that would work. Over at Rick's I got to hear some music outdoors and I get how it's not a critical listening experience. I have thus far resisted mp3, xm, etc. Pandora will not be the one to make me falter ... but I still 'need' an Oppo.

Exactly, the outdoor speakers are great, but with everything else being a factor, having Pandora as the source I don't see as the bottle neck, it's all the outdoor surroundings! My Pandora One subscription I got for the uninterrupted feature when I use it to play in the background at my office, but I'm using Spotify now more than Pandora at work. I don't think the Oppo benefits from the subscription though. Last I read DVD players/receivers etc were limited to 128k streaming, Pandora one subscription or the free version. The computer player can go up to 192 via the Pandora One subscription. Either way, Pandora works for the purposes I'm using it for: background at the office and the front and back yard at home, but if someone buys the BDP-95 for the Pandora capabilities, they have a screw loose! You won't catch me playing Pandora and seeing if it sounds better over the balanced outputs vs unbalanced vs HDMI vs MCH outputs... :p

This periodontist I go to has a local radio station piped into every torture chamber via the phone system intercom with commercials and Christmas music. He says he's not enough of an audio junkie to be bothered by the set up. I cry when I go to see him. :D

Next time I'm sick I want it to be in Glasgow. :)

Well, just be more careful about what you shove in your mouth. :D
