I've have almost completely decided that the Panasonic TH42PX75U is the tv I would like to purchase. I've found some deals on it, the cheapest being $1050. I'm not in a huge rush to buy a tv this minute. What do you think the prospects would be for waiting for a great sale on this tv? I'd be willing to wait till next year to buy if people think the price will drop significantly. By significantly I'm talking down to the $800 -$900 range. I'd buy this tv right now if I could find it at that price. The point of this post is to ask if people think I would be able to find this tv on sale for that price range if I waited or should I buy it right now cause I won't find it for cheaper than $1050? thanks for any input.
I don't think you'll find this television for sale in one year...at any price, except used. You may find the 77U at $1050, however. So if you wait a year, you can end up with a 1080P unit for perhaps the same price.
My take? I want HD now, and bought a 75U (720P) now, because that's all sat-tv is going to be broadcasting in our lifetime, anyway. Perhaps 90% of our tv watching is television, 10% DVD's. We use a Toshiba A2 (720P) thanks to a great friend (!!), so 1080P is unnecessary for us, in any event. There is NOTHING wrong with 720P PQ, even with our 58" set. The added $1300 to step up to 1080P (just for the tv) was not worth it for us (nor could we have afforded it

).
Finally, IMHO if you're sitting further than ~8 feet from your 42" tv, I doubt you could see much of a difference in 720P or 1080P HD-DVD/BR.
