I've have almost completely decided that the Panasonic TH42PX75U is the tv I would like to purchase. I've found some deals on it, the cheapest being $1050. I'm not in a huge rush to buy a tv this minute. What do you think the prospects would be for waiting for a great sale on this tv? I'd be willing to wait till next year to buy if people think the price will drop significantly. By significantly I'm talking down to the $800 -$900 range. I'd buy this tv right now if I could find it at that price. The point of this post is to ask if people think I would be able to find this tv on sale for that price range if I waited or should I buy it right now cause I won't find it for cheaper than $1050? thanks for any input.

It will definitely be cheaper by this time next year, there's no doubt about that. And of course there will be blackfriday sales, cyber monday sales, christmas sales, clearance sales (to make way for the new models) etc, etc going on that may snag you a good deal on that TV. Of course it's anyone's guess as to HOW much the price drop will be :)

I don't think you'll find this television for sale in one year...at any price, except used. You may find the 77U at $1050, however. So if you wait a year, you can end up with a 1080P unit for perhaps the same price.

My take? I want HD now, and bought a 75U (720P) now, because that's all sat-tv is going to be broadcasting in our lifetime, anyway. Perhaps 90% of our tv watching is television, 10% DVD's. We use a Toshiba A2 (720P) thanks to a great friend (!!), so 1080P is unnecessary for us, in any event. There is NOTHING wrong with 720P PQ, even with our 58" set. The added $1300 to step up to 1080P (just for the tv) was not worth it for us (nor could we have afforded it ).

Finally, IMHO if you're sitting further than ~8 feet from your 42" tv, I doubt you could see much of a difference in 720P or 1080P HD-DVD/BR.

The TH-42PE7U is $900 at BB. That is regular price, not on sale.
