That model is basically a PX75U that was made specifically for BB for BF. If you can still find one snap it up!

75u vs 77u

Hello All

Thanks for the great discussion. I have narrowed my choice for a new flat panel tv to the Panasonic 50" PX. I would appreciate any help in deciding between the 75u and 77u. I'm not sure glare is going to be a problem - any way to test this before bringing home a unit?

Well I went to a few best buys and couldn't find any of the left over TH-42PE7U. I was just about to give up on the new TV idea for now, but ran across a pretty good sale at Sears and decided to jump on it. Picked up the 42"75U and the Toshiba HD-A3 for $1200+tax total. But the two years free financing is what made me go ahead and do it. I was able to leave the with the HD player, but have to wait till next tuesday to get the Panny. Can't wait to get it home and try it out. Couple quick questions. How do I go about getting the 5 free HD-DVDs that Toshiba offers. And what is the best way to go about calibrating the plasma. Is there a disc I can buy and run play through a dvd player to help me calibrate it. Does this this disk need to be a HD disc or does it run through a regular DVD player. Thanks for the help.

The Toshiba 5 free offer is right in the box, and any new disk (no, it doesn't have to be hd) will work fine in calibrating your display.

The two popular calibration discs are the Digital Video Essentials and the Avia disc. You can get them through the internet. They also make HD versions by Silcon Optix. Not sure what the advantage of the latter is and I do not have them.

If they are both PX models the 77U has the anti-glare matte finish on the glass. The 75U does not.

If you can control your lighting in the room I say go for the 75U. The glass screen makes the colors look a bit more natural than the anti-glare one.

I agree completely, but make sure you can control the lighting. If lighting is possibly an issue, I'd go with the anti-glare. If not, then definitely the 75U.
