I used a pink floyd pulse dvd "audio set up" to test my 5.1 set up. What I found was:

Left and right front speakers ok.
Sound for "Center speaker" seemed to be a combination of all three front speakers
rear surround speakers, seemed to be recognized as the front speakers
the sub woofer was not recognized.

The acoustimas set-up runs the front three speakers through the sub-woofer and then out from the SW to the 3 front speakers =>it is difficult to figure out what is causing the problem.

Thoughts ?

Welcome to the forum!

My guess is that the DVD player isn't hooked up or set up the way that you're going to want it to be.

How do you have your DVD player hooked up to your receiver? Once we know that, we can also help you set it up in the internal menus.

Check to make sure the rear speakers are actually "on" through the receiver setup menu. Most receivers have the ability to "turn off" speakers.

I've got a Sony receiver and run a 2.1 setup. I've got my center and surrounds set to "off" since I don't have any hooked up. Even if they were, no sound would reach them because the receiver is setup to believe there are none there.

I have the same receiver in my bedroom. By holding the speaker A/B buttons simultaneously you will enter setup mode. Press the A button until you get to "SIZE". Press the B button to choose the speaker. Use the input knob to change the setting.

Since the Bose system utilizes a passive sub you will want to set the subwoofer option to "NO". Set the front and center speakers to "LARGE". Set the surrounds to "SMALL".

The above procedure will redirect bass to the front speaker outputs and thus to the Bose bass module.

Press the "Test" button on the remote to make sure each channel is working. If your test tones still aren't working right then something is not connected correctly.

A quick Google search shows the Acoustimass 7 system to be 3.1 (front L/R, center, sub). Do you have surround speakers? If so, do you have them connected directly to the surround outputs on the receiver? What sound mode is the receiver in? It should be in "SURROUND". Press "Sound Mode" on the remote until you see "SURROUND" on the display.
