700 vs 900

Has anyone seen the 700, and compared its picture to the 900's?Do I need to upgrade?

For How Long?

Clint,

How long is this offer valid for!?!? I may need to think about making this purchase a month before my bonus check rolls in...

By the way, when I add this to my cart at the VA site it still shows up as $1948?

[Edit - talked to Candace at VA and its a rebate form that you mail back to Panny]Thanks!

I've been reading a lot about this - trying to determine which is the better bang for the buck. A lot of 700u users in various forums seem to think not, but its probably best to go and get a demo for yourself.

$400 Rebate

Sounds like a good deal.
However, the panasonic site ony indicates a $200 cash rebate + blockbuster rentals. Is the extra $200 rebate from Visual Apex? For how long is the extra rebate valid?

I think I might have to wait for reviews on the Optima HD72 that will come out next month. Visual Apex will be selling it for about $2K.

The extra $200 is from Panasonic - a total of $400 in mail-in rebates.

When I talked to the sales rep, Candace I asked how long, and she said they had just gotten this from Panasonic today and did not know how long it would last (although it sounded like they update or renew these deals on a monthly basis).

Its a fantastic deal, especially considering the 700u only went for this amount at the very end of their cycle.

In addition, Audioholics members get a $150 free upgrade warranty that extends the standard 1-year to a 2-year warranty.

Add to that the $300 in blockbuster cards and you're geting $850 in freebies. That's astounding.

great deal!

This is a great deal; however, many times when I start seeing deals like this it means the company who is selling the item knows that there is something new and better flooding the market soon.

I know! I'm not much of prophet with this thought. New and better never seems to be too far in the future anymore. But for those--like me--who are considering and upgrade from the 700, you may want to stick with what you have and hold out for an upgrade to perhaps 1080p. At present 1080p doesn't come w/o a serious price, but we all know that will change soon.

For those buying a projector for the first time Panasonic really has put out a great product. If the 900 is really an upgrade you will not be disappointed. I'm still amazed that I only paid $1500 for the AE700. I have had some type of Home Theater for 20 years and nothing made my friends and family gasp more than the upgrade to this projector.

You're probably right - but that's what makes for the great deals. Resolution isn't everything.

There will certainly be some who want to wait for the new model and pay a premium. But either way, this is an excellent deal.

Isn't it a little early for Panasonic to release a new model? They have stuck closely to fall releases when it come to projectors.

That is an insane deal! I have been wanting a projector for a couple years. I've watched two model cycles pass me buy and recently I have been trying to decid on the Sanyo Z3 and AE700. Now this AE900 is just a little more than those two older models. Damn I wish I had the money to jump on this deal.

great deal or.......

I purchased a 900u based on several online reviews and went for the $200 rebate + the Block Buster thing. I'm very luke warm with this purchase. I have heavy bertical banding that goes away after the unit warms up. But with all the bad press elsewhere, i'm a little freaked out about bulb life and "permenant VB". Of course, I could be looking more for problems than just enjoying the video.....

later,
simp

Hold Up, Im confused I am interested in this deal

Okay I was looking at the sanyo plzv4 on tomshardware for about $1,800, it seems very good.

Now I am interested in this deal but please give me all the links so I don't have my head scratching, it should NOT be so that You have to look all over the place for the deals.

I emailed them about this - their web person is SLOOOOOOOOOOW...

Just go to the regular (non-audioholics) page for the projector to get the rebates (order from the Audioholics page though to get the extra warranty).

Hi all,

I'm a noobie, and have been looking at the Panny 900 for a about a month now. I'll probably go for this deal. What's recommended for warranty. There is an adder for 2 yr and 4yr. Worth the added price?

If you order through the audioholics link to the Visual Apex deal you get a free upgrade to 2-yr warranty. They normally charge $100-150 for this.

I went for the 2-year. I don't think I would have picked up a projector with anything less.

Hope this helps.
