stratman Audioholic Ninja Oct 11, 2006 #2 we'll I can only speak for the Panasonic, I have one, it's been about a year and a half since I bought it. I love it. Great picture rendition, hdmi (which I happen to like) bullet proof (and there's a four year old in the house) I highly recommend it.

D daveco2 Audiophyte Oct 12, 2006 #7 Thanks guys for all the responses. I got tired of doing the tradeoffs, so I just ordered the Pana S97 to go along with the Pana DMR-ES45VS DVD/VHS recorder and the Pana TH-50PX600U plasma DVTV. It just turned out that everything is Pana. I'm not under the illusion that it'll help with any compatibility issues, but I have a secret wish that it does. Dave

mtrycrafts Seriously, I have no life. Oct 12, 2006 #9 daveco2 said: Any recommendations on which is better? Thanks, Dave Click to expand... I have the 97. It lost memory soon after the labor warranty ran out While the video board was free, labor was expensive as was the two way shipping. And, those idiots at the authorized station threw out the outer shipping box!

I cant start a new thread yet, so I will ask this here: The Panasonic digital receivers seem to be regarded as "giant killers", so I was wondering if the same is true of their DVD players for CD playback. In particular, they have a $100 one that plays HDCDs, and I wonder if it could be as good as a more expensive dedicated CD player (using analog outs)?
