I AM NOT a technie. I purchased a Panasonic DVD-CD 5-disc player on e-Bay that did not have a User Manuel. I have a TV with proper connections for DVD. I have an older model Panasonic Turntable, 8-Track, AM/FM receiver. How do I hook up my stereo speakers to work with the CD function?
I have a Subwoofer cable that can plug into the player. Now what? Thanks, bud in NC

A disc player will not allow you to hook up speaekers to it, you need a receiver that has a built in amplifier to allow switching of devices and to amplifiy the sound to the speakers. So if this unit is a player only and not a combination player/receiver, then this won't work.

I Have a Pansonic Receiver

The Panasonic Turntable, 8-track, AM/FM has an "Aux" function. When I connect from those jacks to the back of the DVD-CD player I get wonderful sound from my speakers. However, I use the audio jacks at the back of the player for sound from the DVD. Is this right? Still searching.

OK, so the turntable/8-track/radio is the receiver. So you are getting sound now? It sounds like you are, so I guess I am not understanding the question? If it plays for DVDs, it should also play for CDs via the same connection.

Another Attempt

OK, the back of the receiver has the usual DVD jacks. There are two (one left and one right) audio jacks and one subwoofer. I get sound from CDs by connecting the the audio from the DVD/CD player to the "Aux" on the receiver. To get sound for DVD I have to connect the audio out to the same jacks--meaning I have to disconnect from the receiver. I have a subwoofer cable. Will that work by connecting it directly to the "Aux" on the receiver from the player?

You shouldn't have to switch them to get CD vs DVD sound, just leave them on the connections for DVD and it should work, and vice versa in most cases, since it doesn't care if it is a CD or DVD as to which output it uses - both should work, in other words. If not, something needs to be configured in the player itself. Connecting the sub directly to the player will mean you cannot control the volume of the sub; meaning when you adjust the volume of the speakers, it will not affect the sub.
