Painting & Covering Yorkville Speakers

Hello all,

I bought some Elite e1004 Yorkville speakers that the outside cases carpet is in bad shape along with the paint. I have stripped down 1 tower so far down to the wood because of the condition of the box. I am ready to paint and then re-carpet the box.

My question is, can I use regular latex paint and then carpet the box, or do I absolutely have to use a speaker paint like DuraTex and then carpet the box? If I need to use speaker paint, why, and what are the benefits if I am going to be covering them?

Thank you,

MacWarrior

Sorry, I honestly have no idea what speaker paint it. I don't see any reason not to use "regular" paint.
