One thing most of us appreciate is the subwoofer. Or multiple subwoofers.
To me, it doesn't matter how many speakers and what speakers I have, it seems like something is missing unless I pair the speakers with the subs.
Right now I'm pairing the P362 with Velodyne SC-600 subs ($200 each delivered, retail $550 each) I got from eBay. I place 3 of them behind my 73" DLP in my family room.

I'm powering the 3 Velodyne with an old OSD 225wpc x 2ch 4ohm amp.

It has those old A+B speaker selection. So pressing in both A & B will output to 4 speakers at a time. Also has gain controls from -12dB to +12dB. Cool I think. Not "reference" quality subs at that price, but they seem quite tight compared to the BIC PL-200 (designed by HSU).
Anyway, I think the SQ from the P362 + Velodyne subs is probably better than the B&W 802D without any subs at all if it were a double-blinded test, and the music is pop/rock/jazz with good bass.
But, paired with some good subs, the B&W 802D can sound great.
There is a guy on AVS who owns B&W 802D + Rotel components, but no subwoofer. He said his room is large, I think greater than 20' x 20'. He said it has good acoustics. And he tried different placements. But the 802D just lacks that punchy bass.
Yes, the 802D lacks punchy bass. No kidding. So I said he needed dual subs.
But he keeps on saying he needs better amps than Rotel, he said like Parasound. He thinks amps will improve the bass.
Kal Rubinson from Stereophile disagrees with me saying that it could be amps, placements, acoustics. Even though Kal Rubinson pairs his 800D with subs.
Gotta have subs, right?
