Do you really think they stage all thgose shots with five microphones to capture the sounds from the directions they eminate from? Do you know what a foley operator does?
I know what foley artists do, and I agree that many, many movie sounds are recorded after the fact.

Sometimes I think that the foley people go too far, and that the sounds intrude on the movie--some foley sounds are nothing like what we would hear if we were viewing a scene in real life.

But just as some movies are written by not-so-good screenwriters, or directed by not-so-good directors, I guess some sounds are made by not-so-good foley people. Maybe the final sound engineer plays a role if some foley sounds are obtrusive.

Movies are not a "real life" experience.

They are a carefully structured artificial experience.

That's like saying that you want the acoustic version of Dark Side of the Moon or a Vangelis composition with no electronic enhancements whatsoever. In such case, it would not be the same piece of music. In fact, it is the manipulation of acoustic sounds (and some that never existed in nature) that comprise these works of art.

What you seem to want will have all the visual and audiable impact of a home movie and that, my friend, simply will not sell.

Those sound effects are part of the artform that is modern cinema.

But, if you can convince enough people to your point of view, it might make for a new production company. After all, George Lucas started his own company because he had his own ideas and others came around. Perhaps you're a futurist and could capatiaize on this concept?
