Outrageous rebranding

Don't forget THX's role in this. They certified a BD player that "failed" a portion of audio processing.
This is a major black eye for THX. Much of their claim to fame is their reputation for the certification of products to THX standards. Did this player pass all of THX's tests? If so why does both the Oppo and Lexicon models come up short? If not why is it "certified"? If, as Lexicon is saying, the player only passed the video portion why does is say "THX Certified" and not "THX Video Certified" as seems more honest.
Apparently no one on either THX or Lexicon sides are talking anymore but if it is a false certification that definately smacks of consumer fraud.

Interestingly, the mention of THX no longer (or does not) appear on the Lexicon website and the THX website does not have the player listed anywhere that I can find easily.

Most of the THX website does allow for you to drill through their products which have received THX certification, so it looks like AH has really pushed some buttons on this one to get THX to stand behind their product.

Not sure that Lexicon didn't necessarily run some tweaks during certification to ensure they received proper certs. even though the final product did not have those tweaks on board.

Not at all suprising that this happens - really - no suprise at all. But, serious props to AH for doing such a thorough job checking out the Lexicon product and comparing it to the Oppo. Also props to Oppo for putting out a product which clearly sells for thousands less than it is actually worth. :D

This article clearly shows that just because you spend more on a product that it isn't always worth the extra money... you don't always get what you pay for.
