Outlets on Amp

Is it recommended to plug components into the a/c jacks on the amplifier, or should those be plugged directly into a surge protector? My amp has two outlets and I was going to plug in the CD player and the DVD player directly into the amp. Is that a good/bad idea?

As long as they draw less than the socket's maximum wattage rating you should be fine.

I have had mixed luck there. I myself use a power conditioner and use separate sockets for all my gear. Mark is right technically but like I said I have had mixed results...

I have never used the outlets on the back of the AVR but I am about to. I will use it for the Niles MSU140 that I am wiring in for control of my bedroom set-up.

I'll probably have enough space in my surge protector, but thought I'd ask the question since I imagine it is easier since the plugged-in component would automatically turn "on" when I turn on my amp.

I see that you use monocables... what do you think about them? The price is right... I was going to pick up a 25 foot HDMI and a few smaller cables from them...

www.bestdealcables.com and www.monoprice.com are my 1st choices with bluejeans right up there as well. For speaker cable and interconnects I would go with monoprice and for subwoofer and HDMI cables Best deal. In a nutshell that would be my recommendation...
