There are some trails where I live and there are nice resting places. A little out of focus (sadly) and an older picture with my digital interchangeable lens camera, and using Microsoft Snipping Tool to copy/paste to have the image small enough for the forum. Looks much better on my monitor.

A picture a few years ago of Mont Saint Michel, Normandy, France. Like so many places like this it's very commercialized.

Tired of barren and stony valleys? Still in SW Norway that during a day trip have a very wide variety of nature.

Time for some pictures of fjords, I'm a Norwegian after all. This is a day trip with ferry in a 42 km long fjord named Lysefjord, SW Norway that has that famous overhang cliff Preikestolen. For a day-trip with a car this is great as we can use ferry to see fjord, travel over mountains, stony valleys, rock beaches, sand beaches, ocean (North Sea) and various types of agriculture. This is what I grew up with.

Preikestolen. Sorry for the compression the forum uses.

Yup, there are people on top of Preikestolen.

This is at the end of Lysefjord, called Lysebotten.

Max 10 attachments, so I'll continue my post above.

WWW II memorial at end of Lysefjord of British soldiers dying in a crashed hang glider in November 1942. The surviving soldiers where executed.

Now we've left the fjord and is in the mountains above the fjord. The roads are very narrow and are roads made during construction of a dam at the end of Lysefjord.

Beautiful! Would love to go hiking there some day.
Due to the extensive construction of water dams there are very many construction roads that makes some very nice scenic areas accessible, even for short hikes if you've a car. In many places there are cabins, as well, with some manned. Do note this is in the mountains and can snow even in the summer time.

This is in July, SW Norway, and a couple of years earlier there where no snow at all.

Visited there in 1999. Yes, very commercial, but it was during the off-season, so not too crowded. Certainly worth seeing.
Here is a little more ominous shot I took and as I recall I had to walk a little for this.

Not the types of view I usually like to take pics of, but was giving some friends a ride up to an upper trailhead on Alpine Ridge this afternoon and this was our view of the Cedar Creek Fire
