I think the couch potato moniker is fine...and fitting. Unless they can establish some type of disability that prevents them from getting away from the computer screen :p...or it takes them ten years to hit 6,000 posts. I again congratulate the mods for a job well done. Let the moniker befit the poster. Anyway, what's all the hubbub? A rose by any other name...

As for me, I think you should allow the Samurai title to remain indefinitely...I like it! :p

Gosh, so all it takes to be come knowledgable in an online forum is to post alot apparently? Somehow the outpouring of the digital mouth makes the person smarter!

They should completely redo the colleges in America... If we can just get all of our kids talking we'll be the smartest country in the world!

That was kind of the point I was hitting on without being quite so direct. :D

Very true. It seems there are a variety of posters from the ones who try to be very helpful to those who like to have fun and be goofy with many in between.

When I first posted on this site I just asked the typical what speakers are the best for $X, after asking a few other 'stupid' questions and doing tons of reading on the subject, and still am, I have learned quiet a bit and try to mix up my posts between being jestful and helpful, but to each their own.

I still think it would be funny if the mods could poke fun at us and give us our monikers or we could just have votes in the steam vent :p.

Or...equally, we could have a "Name The Mods" contest. Hmmmm....

Point taken. But, without instilling some kind of quiz (did someone say AH University ;)) or equivalent, how can anyone gauge level of knowledge? Just seems like it is not the intent of the forum moniker and too much work for mods.

I would hope that someone with 5000+ posts has a decent number of posts that amount to useful feedback.

I think that was the irony in Clint's post...he's such a wit! ;) I believe we have more than enough good guys around here to catch (in short order) that occasional bit of misinformation.

Anyhow, for those disgruntled fortunate few that have the rare distinction of achieving that highest echelon of notoriety ("couch potato") here at Auditory University, I dare them to post such a wide array of options that are not afforded to those of us with lower statures.

Think of it. You have
1) baked
2) double-baked
3) french fries
4) waffle-fries
5) au gratin
6) shoestring
7) mashed
8) canned
9) hash browns
10) chips

Did I miss any? I think if any of our potatoes get out of order, the only re-hashing of monikers ought to be whether a baked or double-baked avatar is forced upon them until their sentence is fully served. ;)

The use of the puns "short order", "re-hashing", and "fully served" was intentional, and, I hope, appreciated. ;)

I delayed my entry into this thread until I reached this, my 1,000th post. As I approached this milestone, I took some time to reflect on my AV experience. There is so much I don't know that it makes what I do know seem insignificant. I can only hope that what I post is correct or that somebody will correct me if I err. I try to be a useful, contributing member and I suspect that this will become easier with time and accumulated knowledge, post count and titles notwithstanding.

This is a perfect example of Clint's irony. This utterly useless post makes me Samarai which implies that I have a body of relevant knowledge, but which could be entirely based on such utterly useless posts as this.

I am rethinking my decision to become a AH Samurai in 2010. I don't want to be in the same boat with you..:D:D. You might still be a samurai by then. I'll wait till you are with Sheep.

Boy, that seems a little harsh. Good thing you doubled up on the smileys or you could have really hurt my feelings...well...not really...
