So happy they made it safely over the long journey...

They definitely don't fit into the Small Form Factor do they, nor does the output, but SQ is top notch eh...
me too. but yes, given the choice right here right now, I'd buy the Ultras again.

He's waiting on another seriously over the top sub... should be sweet... :)
Aren't you getting a Elemental Designs A7-450 ?
you mean these?

:D

the 13av.2 is a subwoofer driver.

Good Lord! That is both beauty and beast. A bona fide divorce inducing - argument provoking purchase if I nibble. I will show her the pic and see what she says. WOWWEE WOW WOW WOW WOW!
I had to work on my wife for some time. I think the 5week wait worked to my advantage here as she forgot about it. Believe it or not, she actually likes the SVS now....:p She too thought the sub looked beautiful and the SQ convinced her.

After the onslaught of brute strength - I must re-ask my original question/

Other than SVS PB ULTRA 13 - what should I consider in a smaller form factor that works wonderfully with music? The B&W PV1 has gotten some decent press.

Does the Velodyne DD Sub do well with tunes?

Even in the SVS family - What is still available that is much smaller and sounds great?

My wife is working late and will not see pics until weekend most likely. I know her reaction though. "Focus on something smaller" will be her exact words.

Thanks,

Eddie

I think that in the order of SQ, you could start out at the top with

JL Audio F112, F113
Velodyne DD-12, DD-15(starting to get large), Paradigm Servo-15

Those are extremely well regarded subs in measurements and SQ.

Then there are tons of very good quality subs, of which many were listed.

Here is a list of subs that were measured, and results are in each thread, which you can gather thoughts from... Illka has done measurements on lots of great subwoofers...

Also check out the recent review Audioholics just did on the Sunfire HRS series sub. Seems like it might fit the bill.

The B&W PV1 measured very poorly. I would not consider that a contender (esp. given the price). The DD series is on par with the Ultra, but only the DD15 and DD18 (not cheap).

The smallest sub SVS makes is the SB-12, but it isn't going to have nearly as much output nor extension as the PB-13Ultra. The next biggest sub is the PB10NSD, but it doesn't have the looks. Honestly, I think you would need to get the Ultra if you want SVS. I think with the metal grill it will look really nice.

I really think you would be happy with the Martin Logan Dynamo that I posted before. I believe they sell this speaker at Best Buy's Magnolia stores if you are curious for a listen.

I bought a SVS PB12+2, which is a big sub, and I followed the advice of an Audioholics article which reviewed it. They recommended you get a finish color which will best blend in with the color of the room you are putting it in. I got light maple and it blended in so well my wife accepted it without comment. I even have it right out in the open on the front wall next to my TV/Audio electronics and it still got no negative comments. I was concerned I would be getting barged on it for the next 10 years but the color cordination thing really works. All the top subwoofers have been recommended here so whatever you pick I am sure you will be happy.

Warpdrv,

It's okay. The pics are awesome and I have gotten some decent advice. My wife just wants a smaller sub that does not dominate the Living room and I want it to be suited more for music than Home Theater. You gotta admit - those pics are INSANE - in a very GOOD way!

Plus I'm learning a great deal.

Thanks,

Eddie
