After reading so much positive about them over the last few weeks I decided it was time for an upgrade. I just ordered a set of E5bi bookshelves and the matching center. Cant wait to get them and post my own impressions on them. When they do come in what is the best way to burn them in and how long should I do it for?
thanks
Chris

Just plug them in - play and enjoy them - let the adventure begin.

I wish you well. As with any ID only speakers that you can't audition personally, one just hopes your preferences fall in line with those that gave it positive reviews. Personally, I haven't heard them but I do know many people rave about Brussells sprouts but I can't stand the dang things.

As for break-in and how long, just play 'em normally until about a week before the trial/return period ends. If they sound good, they're broken in. If not, box 'em up and return them.

Oh, save all packing materials, receipts, and boxes until then at least.

I auditioned several speakers. my favorites probably being the KEF Q300 bookshelves, but the KEF's where in an open airy San Francisco hole in the wall that just happened to have a pair playing when I walked in. The acoustics of the place would have been nothing like my living room, so I didn't think that was the best audition. I appreciate your advice to hold on to the packaging. It completely makes sense in reality, but it totally would have slipped my mind and my neurotic wife would have been on me to throw the empty damn boxes away after three hours most likely. :p
Oh and thanks to both of you on the burn in advice... I would of had the damn things running on radio fuzz all night long while I slept if I didn't ask you guys first. :p

Oh Mark add some salt and butter to your Brussells sprouts and they taste a lot better. Of coarse so does everything else when you add salt and butter...

Well going to have to wait a little longer for the speakers. Got an email from Brian at EMP this morning thanking me for my order and letting me know it would ship in approximately 3 days. I informed him that I actually wanted the Red Burl color on the speaker but ordered the Black Ash because they were out of stock on the Red. He emailed me back to let me know that he could change my order but the red wasn't due in till the end of the month. I let him know I had no issue with waiting.
A real person though, that responds to my emails and actually seems to know what is going on in the company he works for... I haven't even heard the speakers yet but I am impressed so far.

The e5Bi reallly open up when set to small and crossed over to a subwoofer. Try to feed them low bass and you lose a lot of midrange composure. They're good bookshelves though.

RBH has always had great customer service. With the EMP Tek speakers you also get the 30 day in-home trial so definitely save all the boxes in case you wish to return them. I also would not worry about a break-in period, just play 'em.
