Does anyone have experience with Orb Speakers? I am building a second home and because of space limitations I will need to use a sub/sat system for HT.

I don't know if you've made your purchase yet, but if you haven't, I can give you my ear's perception of an Orb system running on a Marantz SR7300. I have the mod2's up front and mod1's for surround with the super8 sub. They have been running for three weeks - I have one more week of trial listening left and am still undecided about whether I will keep them.

Everywhere you read about these speakers, people rave. My opinion differs to an extent and I've written this in other forums. Tastes cannot be disputed.

I enjoy the orb look and my wife does even more so. They also sound amazing for their size, but lack the resonance and depth of sound that larger bookshelves and floorstanders produce.

I highly reccomend them for those who like the size and appearance. I don't think you'll find better speakers amongst mini-sat competitors. They do not distort or sound too tinny even at high volumes. They are very detailed in the upper ranges.

The Orbs, however, aren't the answer to authentic, "they are playing in your living room", sound reproduction. The super8 works well with the sats but was extremely difficult to place in my room. I'm still not completely satisfied with the sound, as it is a step down from my larger - but uglier - monitors.

The speakers are worth a listen and continue to open up with use even in the third week.
