Seriously, I have no life.
At present he lost. I think he might blame Trump and JD Vance for election interference for his loss. ;) :D
78% turnout. Their congress has super majority with this election. Will that happen here in November?

Hard to say how the country will change and how quickly. Newspaper owners may still pose a problem along with the court makeup.
New leader, Magyar, is not keen on Ukraine entering EU immediately but maybe in the future.

What a mess in the world. Erdogan is thinking or might invade Israel. Is Taiwan next? Perhaps Cuba first?

I was happy to hear that Orban admitted defeat before the count was completed, as it was pretty obvious that Magyar would win with a clear majority. Orban was catering to the extreme right and had been eroding Hungarian democracy for years. I was worried that he was pushing the country towards dictatorship and aligning with Russia. Magyar was a former member of Fidesz and was very critical of the party. He did not form Tisza but joined later. It's not a leftist party and is also considered Conservative but is more right of centre as opposed to Fidesz which is hard right. Magyar campaigned on working more with the EU and strengthening ties with NATO, so I don't expect big changes in the short term but I think the outlook for the country has improved with this change in leadership. Inflation has been as high as 30% in Hungary so affordability was a main issue for many. Amazing turn out for Hungarian voters. The streets of Budapest were packed.

I did not know much about Magyar and found this video informative:

Didn't Orban appear with Vance? Hard to claim interference, right?

Yes, they met few days before election. Vance spent two days there, praising him, how much Trump admin supports him, etc. So did Trump long distance.
Vance even called Trump from a public event with Orban, live with Trump's response broadcasted. ;)
No, not hardly serious interference.

Trump and MAGA were using Orban's dictatorship as a playbook. Now he is out. They should be VERY worried because it seems obvious they're heading in the same direction for the same reason.

Well, no, but people hate compressors on principle [even though unbeknownst to them most music they buy goes through them and they'd be upset if it didn't because they hate having to ride the gain during playback] so theoretically a rant could have been along the lines of "Why does the man continue to make these blasted dynamic range stealing boxes trying to keep us poor audiophiles down?!" Ha ha

Yes, Vance campaigned with him. There is not a dictator Víktor Orban is not pally with. Trump, Putin and Orban are all nasty pieces of work. He was basically opposed to NATO and essentially took Putin's side over Ukraine. It is very good news he is gone, and especially booted by an overwhelming majority. That stopped him trying to pull a Trump like circus as with Trump's previous loss. It highlights that any senator or congressman on the Republican side had better be beaten by a large majority. Hopefully Trump can be impeached after the midterms, and if not before. If the polls continue to be as bad for them as they are now, he will lose Republican support in the House and Senate fast, and candidates may realize they have better chances if Trump is gone.

I think he is dementing fast, and those disgraceful AI cartoons he posted on social media means he has lost all sense of propriety.

Now I am reading that the Orban government folks are destroying documents and in one case a Russian is involved. Will Trump and team do the same?

I would think the documents would be redundant. I also believe his staff would have a hard time finding everything they might want to destroy, unless they saved everything on pocket notepads and scraps of paper.

I believe it takes about 2 weeks for the change in government in Hungary. Orban had a majority government so they could basically do whatever they want in those two weeks. There were worries that he might try to pass legislation that would hamper Magyar but that has not happened. It's no surprise that they are destroying documents as government corruption was a big factor in Orban's downfall. Magyar will have a difficult time dealing with the entrenched oligarchs.

He could perhaps convince his cabinet to pass high tax laws for the rich oligarchs? ;)
Diversify the news agencies?

I don't think it was taxes so much as peddling influence and back room deals. Government control of news media is an issue there that he could address.

I wish countries would implement a minimum tax for the wealthy. Seems ridiculous that people can manipulate the system and reduce their tax burden to zero.
