Hello everyone!

just joined the forums. a few days ago, i started searching all the forums i could to find information and user reviews of the Orb Audio systems. From what I've read, they seem to be a perfect fit for what i'm trying to do.

I currently have a 7-ish year old Polk Audio setup

fronts - rm800i
center - cs400i
rears - rt10
sub - psw250

somewhat of a budget system, pieced it together in about a month or so ...

recently married and we have "room" for the floor standing speakers, but i'm trying to do research now in preparation of the WAF kicking in!!! :) ...

you all are EXTREMELY knowledgeable about this, as i've seen over the last few days reading through the posts ... i know there will be SOME difference if i make the switch to an Orb setup ... but will it be huge??

Gallos i think are outta the equation ... from the reviews i've read, the quality diff between the two (gallo and orb) isn't worth the price difference??

thanks for any help in advance ... you guys rock!

Orb Audio has gotten some good reviews. They are very good for the money, a much better deal then say, "Blose". Just remember that they will have limitations due to the size of the drivers and limited surface area. They will not play as loud or have the same frequency response that larger speakers offer. But they still have a good clean sound if setup correctly. If there is a WAF to consider, it may be a good compromise. Good luck. :)

Orb speakers and the likes would do well as surround speakers. I would try something a little bigger for front and center. If you must get the same tiny speakers, KEF makes some fine wife/decor friendly 5.1 speaker systems.

Orb speakers are excellent and surprised me how well they reproduced sound being so small, but they still aren't quite as good as your typical bookshelf. A great alternative if WAF is a high priority.

I agree for the WAF to performance ratio they are hard to beat.

What do you feel is lacking from your current set-up?
Granted those models are pretty old, but that certainly doesn't mean they are out dated.
I'd suggest looking at a new sub. That's the only thing that jumps out at me as in need of replacement.

well, i wouldn't necessarily say anything is "missing" per se ... just the size of the components that make up the system. if one day the WAF becomes an issue, i want to be already looking and prepared for what would be an acceptable (performance wise) replacement system ... the Orb seems to be in the right price range AND the right SIZE range!!:) ...

only thing is, if i wait too long, the "older" polk pieces i already have will be even harder to sell and get SOMETHING back for them ...

in addition ... thanks for ALL your responses, they're all along the same lines i was thinking!!! just good to get second, third, fourth opinions ...

if i were to make a decision between the ORBs or the Def Tech ProCinema 600 system ... which one of these would be the "better" choice ... or is it back to the ole "personal preference"
