Hmmm...I've never used a VGA to S-Vid cable before. Does you Optoma recognize other inputs (DVD player via Component vid, etc)? Have you tried to connect a different componenet via the S-port to make sure it works? Have you checked to be sure 'Auto Signal Lock' is on? I think it's called that, I'd have to check the menu (I have an H31, too).

I'm confused... You bought a TV tuner box that outputs over a VGA cable and then you bought an adapter cable that goes from VGA to s-video?

If that's the case, then that is your problem. The output of the box is VGA which uses 5 wires - RGBHV - and carries a full VGA computer specified signal. S-Video uses two wires and only allows NTSC, 480i video signals across the cable.

Kind of like taking a gallon jug of water, crossing out the word 'WATER' - and writing the word 'GASOLINE' on the jug. It doesn't change that water is still in the jug. You MUST use a VGA to VGA cable and connect via VGA at a resolution the H31 likes. Or, you must get a product called a transcoder that converts VGA signals back to 480i NTSC signals...

OR: Just get a VCR or cable box and connect your projector that way like most people do.
