Hello

I just ordered a BDP-83 and was trying to get my Harmony 1000 remote updated with new device. To my disbelief I do not see this in the Harmony Database. Can you guys please let me any workarounds?

Thanks

Do they have any Oppo products listed? I'll bet that the codes for those will work on the BDP-83, and any new commands can be added using the IR input on the 1000.

Yup

They have 981HD in their database. I am amused to see that no one yet were able to get Logitech attention to get this added to the database.

Cheers

It is in the list for my Harmony One...and was for my 880 too....makes sure you have the latest Logitech software. I think you may have to look it up under Logitech not Harmony.

Sorry, you are trying to find Oppo on the the Harmony remote setup.
Again, it should be there, make sure you have the latest Harmony software for your remote. Too late to edit my last confusing post. my bad.

Thanks

I went a head and added this. It still asked whether I have the original remote. I said no. It then said found some identical products and gave me BDP-83. So I selected and now set. Thanks again guys for all the help.

Now waiting to have all the pieces delivered (AV8003 Processor and OPPO).

Cheers and Merry Xmas to you all.

Seriously, I have no life.
Like many remote databases, the manufacturer doesn't add the devices, they just make sure the codes are good. It's users who add the codes, so you can teach the codes to it, so you can use them in your system.

Make sure to name the commands the same as they are on the remote- one of the biggest PITA issues with codes is incorrect names, which results in other people adding codes for the same command with a new name. Then, when someone comes along later to set up their remote, they won't see the command they need, which adds confusion.

If Oppo is smart, they'll use the same command set for all DVD or CD players (each type with their own set). That way, people don't need to wade through 50 code sets for a DVD player. Since most good remote RF receivers/extenders are able to assign output jacks, having two source players in one system with one code set isn't a problem.
