Oppo 970 and 1080p LCD TV?

Becuase I have a CRT and because I said I do listen to SACD and DVD-A, the guy recommended the 970 over the 981 (mainly because of the CRT), and I wasn't going to question it because it is about a $50 difference in price.

I'm sure the difference isn't HUGE, so probably nothing to lose sleep over. I'm tempted to pick up a 981 also and compare the two just because I don't like the amber display on the 970.

Good, I'm starting to get tired from not sleeping over this! . If you do get a 981 please do an A/B comparison for audio perf. and let us know the results if you can. I would be interested to know also.

I have to admit, the 981 looks a lot better and this is part of the reason I got it instead of the 970 (the other being a potential tv upgrade).

Well, I will likely be upgrading my TV as well, but I figured I would just sell the 970 and pick up a 981 when that happens.

The 42" Sharp Aquos 62 series is on sale at CC for 1699 and Best Buy for 1799, time to buy and get the 981 with the savings!
