Opinions on B&O RL 60.2's?

Hi,

I want to build an audio system to support both home theater and music listening. Most of what I read online recommends to choose (and spend most $$ on) speakers first so that is what I'm attempting to do. Then I will choose a receiver. I would like to stay under $1000 for speakers if possible. My room is about 15'x15' but almost every wall has windows or doorways or fireplace or openings to other rooms... you get the idea. I have a diagram but don't know how to post it.

I am also interested in opinions on using my current speakers as mains. I'm the original owner of a set of B&O RL60.2 - here are the specs and a link to photo and description:

My interest in using these is 50% sentimental and 50% frugal. I just don't know if their design is compatible with today's HT systems and the other speakers I would need to complete a 5.1 system.

I've read good things about SVS subs. With my budget, the PC12 or PB12 NSD would be a stretch (about $600 with freight), and would not leave much room for the remaining speakers.

I'd like to find surrounds that are relatively small but effective, and easy on the eyes if mounted up high.

I'm clueless what to use for a center.

One twist - my wife "might" be giving me a pair of Polk RTI A5's for Christmas. I don't know much about them other than they are recommended at Fry's - supposedly there was a sale for 50% (sounds too good to be true) off that she found out about - not sure if she executed the transaction or not though (I'll know more in a few days :). I could always return them and use the funds elsewhere if my RL60.2's are worthy as mains or if there are better choices for mains in my budget range. Again - opinions are appreciated.

Thanks in advance for helping with my research. I live just north of Dallas area so hopefully there are stores in the area where I can listen to speakers that are suggested.

Help to Match w/Polk RTI A5's

Well... I DID get the A5 cherry wood towers as a Christmas gift from my wife!! I listened to them in Fry's and liked the sound well enough (for the price of $220 ea). They also look really nice.

Any recommendations for a center that will work well with the A5's?

I also need a sub... would the SVS PC12-NSD complement the A5's? I like what I read about performance and everyone in the family likes the cylinder look.

Also looking for recommendations for high mount rear surrounds that are low profile and/or unobtrusive. My SO is being a really good sport about me building a system - her primary concern is that I don't hang big ugly boxes from our white ceiling.

Unfortunately, it looks like my old RL60.2's will not be part of my new system :(. There's just not enough room in the room.

After the A5's and the sub, my budget is about shot so I'm looking for economy on the center and surrounds.

It's a huge help for me to be able to read all these posts so I appreciate all those who take time to respond!

Thanks again!

If I were you I would ook at another set of Polks for the rears, I am not sure about model numbers but I know my friend has a pair as his rears and he likes them and If memory serves me correct they were well under 100 bucks. I would also look at the polks for a center too so you are sonically matched all the way around. On top of being matched you can find polk equipment very cheap. Look on amazon I saw a few different centers and surrounds around 100 dollars that will work fine.
