Hi all, I have a chance to buy Yamaha's CDR-HD recorder, but it is the 1300 not the 1500 . So I think all the differance is that it has the small 80 gig hard drive .
Has anyone owned one of these unit's and have anything good to say about them ?
I am getting it for $300 so the price is right I guess.
Now from what I understand ,if the CD has Sony's SCMS protection on it ,the player has to rip the CD file from Digital ,then to analog ,and then back to Digital again ?
That kinda suck's ,as the play back quality is not going to be as good as the original . I have no intention's of recording ,couldn't care lees, but I would like to put all my favorite song's on the player's HD for a quality play back .
As I say this ,I already have the RX-V2700 networked to my computer ,so I am streaming all my song's to my amp now . But I thought maybe the quality may be better with the CDR-HD1300
Am I wasting my time even considering buying this ? I am content with the quality of the networked music ,although during Critical listening I found the bass notes did not have the same quality of attack and decay as my CD changer has. Maybe it's just because the CD was changed to a wave file ,I don't know .
I was also wondering how hard it is if a person wanted to upgrade the HD to a 200 gig or more,I heard you have to do a firmware update ?
Any opinion's would be greatly appreciated.
