When I referred to lobing in the linked post in question, I was referring to the commonly referred to area of the crossover bandwidth. But one might also define the interaction of the two mid-bass drivers operating in the same bandwidth off axis vertically as lobing. I believe I did eventually clarify that in the liniked thread -- but that was nearer the middle or the end of the thread.
The lobing effect around the crossover range can be minimized using a MTM configuration along with the appropriate crossover topology. A vertical(if speaker is placed upright) 'lobing' effect, however, in the mid-bass bandwidth will be created, that would not normally be present a speaker with a single mid-bass driver.
