I have the Onkyo A-RV401 amp powering my front mains (Paradigm Mini Monitors v4) and the Yamaha DSP-E492 amp powering my center (Polk CS2) and rear surrounds (Infinity US-1).
There's an Onkyo TX-SV515PRO going for $25 locally, and I was thinking about getting it but wanted to ask if this is a worthy purchase or not. Ultimately, I'm after the amp in it... I am thinking about using the TX-SV515PRO to power my center speaker, since it has 80 Watts per channel power (0.08% THD), as opposed to 60 Watts per channel (0.04% THD) on the DSP-E492.
The TX-SV515PRO has 80Wpc on the main channel, as well as 55 Wpc on the center channel, and 20 Wpc on the rears. It's a surround sound receiver, basically, though it does not have the subwoofer out. One thing I wonder about is if I can hook it up to my center speaker in a "bridged" method (i.e., speaker + to L+ and speaker - to R- or something like that). Or can this damage the amp if it isn't designed for this sort of hook-up?
PS. The TX-SV515PRO comes with a remote, but the owner says the volume pot is a bit scratchy when you turn it.
