Onkyo TX SR805 switched outlet

I have a small external fan sitting on my Onkyo 805 receiver that is plugged into the switched outlet on rear. I noticed a couple of days ago that when I turned off the receiver the fan stayed on. It used to turn off before, not anymore. What would be the reason?

Welcome to the forum!

Did you recently use either Zone 2 or Zone 3 and not shut it off? I don't own that receiver, but I'm wondering if having one of the zones on would cause the AC outlet to remain active when the unit goes into stand-by.

Just a thought.

Thanks! No, none of the zones are on. It's just kind of inconvenient that I would have to plug and unplug it whenever I use it for long periods. It does put out a lot of heat. I've had it for less than a year and I'm hoping this is not the beginning of the receiver going weird on me!

Anyone else having any ideas on this? It's got me curious.

Okay, I did a bit of looking.

A found this thread over at AVS Forum that discusses your same issue. The original poster indicated that a factory reset worked to set the outlet back to original operation. That thread discusses how to do that reset.

Indeed a reset did the trick! I thank you very much for the information and your time.

Fantastic! I'm glad that it was something that you could fix easily and not something that required service.

I sure appreciate you letting us know that it worked out!

Adam, I can't imagine how good your CS must be when you actually get paid.

Do they have a bunch of framed pictures of you lining the hall at work?

You must have missed my whining posts about my bad performance review this year. :)

Thanks for the kind remarks. Very nice of you. I don't work in customer service, though. I'm an engineer. :D

Tom Smykowski:
Well-well look. I already told you: I deal with the god damn customers so the engineers don't have to. I have people skills; I am good at dealing with people. Can't you understand that? What the hell is wrong with you people?

Okay, my apologies, but I'm going to vent a bit more.

During my performance review, I was praised for being such a good mentor to the younger people and for helping them develop into better employees, for successfully leading my programs, for being devoted to improving how we do business, and for being very respectful in how I dealt with others.

When I asked why I received such a poor performance rating, I was told that it was because of my bad attitude.

Imagine my confusion and, well, anger. It did make me feel better when my officemate had a look of shock on his face when I told him that.

Adam, did you talk with the reviewer(s)???

No one is perfect, obviously, but I would want to know if I were in your shoes. Have it clarified.

Well, that's your whole problem right there. Mine too actually.
Engineers are difficult, self centered, and lazy. At least that's what I've heard.
For me; it's true.:) The only thing that keeps me going is the fact I'm always right.:D

My reviewer is my manager, and conversations about any topic related to negative performance have been counterproductive in the past for me because if I don't just acknowledge that he's right that I suck (at whatever the example is that particular year), then I'm being difficult in his opinion. I would be willing to bet that wanting to discuss my "bad attitude" will be considered an example of my bad attitude. That, and my perception is that he decides who he likes that year, and then he comes up with justification (and perhaps even convinces himself of it) for giving someone that he didn't like a bad rating. "Attitude" is really convenient because it's not something quantifiable that I can prove him wrong about if I were to try to dispute it.

I will, despite all of that logic, probably talk to him and maybe even his boss (and maybe his boss' boss) about it anyway. He waited until we were out of time in the review, said, "and here's something that I want to spend some time on," dropped the rating bomb on me and then said, "well, someone is waiting, so we need to end here." Umm, okay...

The only thing that keeps me going is the fact I'm always right.:D
Word. :D
