Picked this up used. Claims to be a 7.2 receiver but has 11 speaker outputs, with Dolby PLIIZ or audyssey Dsx, it allows me to enable all 11 channels, wides, Heights, surround backs etc, with level control and separate crossovers. I guess what I'm confused about is why is it a "7.2" receiver that actually has 11.2 channels?

Probably is limited to processing only 7 at a time. You can have a 7ch setup with either wides or heights or rears but not at the same time (or you can still hook them up but depending on sound mode you are limited to which you can employ). My old Onkyo 7ch avr provides for such at least.

ps PLIIz is still 7ch, PLIIx provides for rear surrounds, IIz for front heights.

I had them all running and outputting sound though.

Wonder if it just sends same info to the heights/wides/rear surrounds....only appears to have a 7ch processor as well as 7 amps from the specs. What mode(s) do you get all 11 speakers running, all ch stereo or something? Might worry about impedance load with 11....

Never mind apparently it is only doing 7ch at a time.

That sounds more like it....you are aware of the potential problems with hdmi/network issues for Onkyos of that period? Details here in case.

Can ya please get rid of the tapatalk/phone ad? Thanks in advance....

Yes, I made sure the Hdmi board had been replaced prior to purchasing it.
