This is a new unit and have been using about 1 week. Last night hooked up new SVS sub to receiver and later I noticed when I changed cable tv channels, the receiver would click. I does not do it everytime, but a large majority of the time. Setting issue or defective unit? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum!

My guess is that the TV stations are switching between surround sound and stereo, and the Onkyo is switching modes. The click would be the surround sound speaker amps turning on and off.

That's just the first thing that comes to mind. I'd say see if that's happening and let us know so that we can help you out with this.

My 876 does this. As Adam stated it is the receiver switching modes.

So it is normal, and nothing to be alarmed about? I went back and tried it in a different mode and it did not do it. I just had never noticed it before. Paranoia was setting in.

I hope it is normal. Mine sounds more like a "clunk" and has done it since day one! Over a year and still working fine so I wouldn't worry. I am more paranoid about the fire thread! Good thing I just upgraded my homeowners insurance. Ha!

All the Onkyo's seem to click, my 1007 does the same thing.

it is detecting the signal that is being feed to it and changing modes accordingly no cause for alarm. Most AVT's do this, just not as loud and Onkyo does
