Onkyo TX-NR906 Audyssey problem

I run the setup and it does not detect a sub. It plays nothing through the subs at all during detection.

Before running it, I set subs on and played some stuff to make sure they were working. They are.

They are hooked up with a splitter on the LFE port of the receiver, and the gain dial is about 3/4 up.

Ideas about why it wouldn't be detected?

What happens if you manually set the sub to "yes" and them level match it?

First Question are you sure you got the subs hooked up to the pre-amp out. I've missed that before and it was embarrasing.

Second can you hear the subs test tone?

Signal strength is a possible cause too, but check all your connections first.

I do that, but it still says no sub in Audyssey setup.

Yeah, I have both subs on a splitter to the LFE out on the receiver.

Subs output nothing during the setup procedure.

When I output through Avia II, I get sub output. I set the sub back to Yes after Audyssey and I get sub output during normal viewing of content.

It's not really a problem, I just find it weird that it doesn't use the subs during Audyssey.
