Hey Guys,
I am stucked between buying these two receivers:
A) Onkyo TX-NR807:
7*135w/channel
pre-amp out
Streaming audio from pc
ethernet
customer review on amazon 3
refurb price on accessories4less: $425 (including shipping)
B) Pioneer VSX-1020-K 7.1
7*110 w/channel
no pre-amp out
no pc control
internet radio but no pc control
customer review amazon: 4
price on amazon(on sale): $360(free shipping)
I am having my system set up in a small room (front: polk monitor 60, sorround: polk monitor 30, center: polk cs1, sub: polk psw 111) I have my pc directly connected to TV (using standard VGA) but am passing the sound through receiver (using stereo cable) and have my blue-ray player connected to the receiver. I am not having any other device connected and am not having any separate amplifier. I will use the system primarily for home theater (80%) and some music passed through my pc (20%). I am not going to by any separate amplifier in near future but thought that it might be good to have pre-amps for later. I also won't have any zone 2.
I like the many features offered by Onkyo but have read so many negative reviews about it. Heat will probably not be a problem because I have enough space around it and am thinking about adding a fan to it. On the other hand, by almost the same money, I can get the brand new Pioneer
from Amazon but lose the pre-amp out feature and extra watt per channel.
Amazon also has Pioneer 1120 for $482 which offers pre-amp out but is beyond my budget of staying around $400.
Please advice me on which one to select? or let me know about your other suggestions.
