Onkyo TX-NR676 with Sony Core Series?

Hello All,

My name is Pete and entirely a newbie to this world. I am coming from a Home Theater System in a box. I am thinking about getting a Onkyo receiver TX-NR676 with Sony Core speakers, SACS9, SSCS3, SSCS5, SSCS8 and Ceiling Speakers from Sonance MAG6R for 5.1.2.

Can you guys all tell me if this setup will be compatible with each other?

I've spent hours yesterday researching rms, peak power, ohms, ect. to see if it will work well with each other without underpowering/overpowering and would like a few of you knowledgeable folks to AGREE or DISAGREE that this will work.

Will they work together? Yes. How big is your room? That 10" sub woofer might be a bit underwhelming unless the room is of a modest size. The sub woofer is also the one speaker that does not need to match the other speakers for brands unless you really need everything to have the same look.

My room is 12’ x 22’, approximately half of the room would have speakers in it because I am planning on doing 5.1.2 and I believe the seats would be fairly close to the tv (6ft) because 4K TVs seem to have a close viewing distance.


Is there any issue with using different branded ceiling speakers than the rest of the speakers?

What size subwoofer would you recommend in this type of room?
