.. srry for all the trouble .. its just im starting up a dvd collection and i have alot of good movies that i just feel are going to waste without the 5.1 surrond sound system.. this receiver i have had for about... 7.. 8 years and there is a problem where when everything is plugged in and i try to turn it on it just stays the same and does turn on even though there is power going to it ( can tell by little red light on face plate) so if u anyone know what the problem is or if there is any way to fix it i would greatly appreciate it .. o and i would also like an answer to my original question

The only audio output the TV has is a digital coax. The TX-8211 is a stereo receiver and does not have a coax digital audio input, so no you cannot hook the TV up to that receiver if your purpose is to hear the audio from the TV tuner or built-in DVD player through speakers connected to the receiver.

The headphone output will work, but will need a 1/8" mini jack to stereo RCA adapter and there will be a cable coming out of the front of the television, but this will work as a variable audio output.

As far as the Onkyo, you will have to explain that problem again, I am having trouble understanding what you are describing.:)

huh?

Are you saying it doesn't turn on? Or it does? I can't make heads or tails of the bolded bit.

I have an 8211 as well and haven't had any problems with it. Are you using the remote or the buttons on the front of the unit?

It just wont turn on even though there is power going to it . I can tell this because of a little red light on the Faceplate that is illuminated because of the power. Thx for the ideas guys really appreciate it.

It it will not turn on, it may be damaged, I don't know what arrangement of fuses it has, you likely wouldn't even get the red light though.

Have you tried the power button on the unit, or just the remote? (or vice versa) I ask because perhaps one of the buttons is dead, that would be the hopeful/easy problem to solve in some ways.
