Hi.

I am a new (nowise) owner of a Onkyo SA806 AV and i have some issues i would like to get discussed.
I live in China and as i can't speak chinese i can't realy talk to the people in the shop where i buy my equipment. I try to find as much info on the net as i can and made my purchase according to that. The front speakers i bourd is brand Vifa, danish brand and the type is Avenge 18K. They have a build in woffer so i have not bourd a superwoffer. Than there is a center speaker and 2 surround.

The front speakers can be Bi-Amp and the system can support this. My living room is not so big and i have read that 7.1 setup is not worth in small rooms. I tryed to get the 5.1 effect by making the Bi-amp. Now to my questions.

1) The SA806 has a lot of preset audio outputs but i can find the setup for hearing this fly-by effect when using surround. Have i misunderstood the Bi-amp or is it somethin else.?

2) I got 2 HDMI cables, one in white with text 1,3 and one in black what is thinner and no text. I connect my PS3 to the AV with HDMI and the output to my HD LCD with HDMI. How can i be sure i have the best cables?

3)I connect my satelite with rgb component to the AV and again HDMI out. It should be able to upconvert the picture but it gets realy blurry, i tryed all the different type of settings but not got better. any comments?

thanks.

Finn.

Hi Fetterbr.

Welcome to the Forum.

I'm not sure I can answer all of your questions.

> If you are getting video, then your HDMI cables are working. I would get another HDMI cable that you can verify is the 1.3 specification (or 1.3a or 1.3b).

> I don't know why you are getting blurry video from the satellite. It could be the dish needs to be re-aimed.

> Forget about bi-wire or bi-amp. Just use 5 channels. The receiver should automatically pick up whatever signal is coming in (HD 5.1 from satellite or Dolby Digital 5.1 from a DVD or Blu Ray Disc.) Make sure your 2 surround speakers are behind you, not to the side of you.

Thanks Mike.

I have asked the TV guy to come and check to see if get a better signal.

I am not sure about the bi amp but will try to connect normally. When i connect the speakers normally shall i than use the "Back Surround Speaker" or the "Rear Surround Speaker" connectors in the receiver.?
That means some connectors are not used yes?

My speakers are behind me, maunted on the wall.

Will try the new setup and let you know.\
Thanks again.

Finn.

If you have only 2 surround speakers (a 5.1 system if you have a subwoofer), use the Back Surround speaker outputs.
