Onkyo receiver - no sound

I have an Onkyo TX-NR5100 that has been working just fine up until recently. I've had to turn it off and back on to get the sound to work. This has happened at least 3 or 4 times over the last couple of weeks. It works fine after that. Is this a sign of a failing HDMI board? I've heard of this happening with other Onkyo receivers.

We have not had reports of newer Onkyo receivers having HDMI board problems. However, your issue sounds as if your receiver is heading for failure due to some fault or other.

I've had it for about 3 and a half years, and we were running it a lot before it got moved to our home office.

I'd try a soft reset to see if that clears things up (i.e. unplug the avr from power for a bit) or perhaps a full reset.
