The 906 would work pretty well as a VP I think. In fairness, I use my 906 more for pass through and let my RS20 do all of the heavy lifting. The 906 is ISF certified though and has RGB independant color controls, sharpening, NR, mosquito, etc. VP controls, customized scaling abilities, as well as gaming modes, Day/Night/Night/Source presets, etc.

My thought is the independant color controls may help you tame some of the oversaturation problems some people have with their RS1. If you need a good receiver upgrade, I can't recommend the 906 enough. If you already have a good receiver that you like and just want a very good VP, I'd say just get a VP and be happy with it.

If there's anything specific you'd like me to check up on, let me know and i'll be happy to run some tests on my system.

Thank you very much Andrew. That is kind.

I don't have issue with oversaturation, but I do wish my greens were a tad more accurate now and then. The one popular piece of equipment, um VP, seems to be the Radiance XD if just for the CMS. It's a whopping $4.5k or so, however. Any other sweetspot processors for considerably less that you might be aware of? With color correction as the first priority. Scaling/deinterlacing is actually of very low priority for me. Cheers.

Well, I know that DVDO has a VP right around $1K, I think Ultimate AV Mag did a review of it about a month ago or so. If you don't need the enhanced scaling performance this may be right up your alley. Other than the Radiance and the JVC branded VP (also expensive), the DVDO is the only one I know of. I'm sure there are different models within each brand though.

Anybody else know of any alternative VPs out there?

It's also worth mentioning that if you don't need the extra beefy power supply in the 906, the 876 has the same VP capabilities for a few hundred less.
