Onkyo Network Receivers (TX-NR807 or TX-NR1007B) and Internet Radio

I am getting close to purchasing my first receiver and am considering one of the Onkyo networkables, such as the TX-NR807 or TX-NR1007B.

I was hoping someone who owns one of these could answer these questions, I tried contacting Onkyo and Pandora directly and tried posting over at avforumns but received no response:

I am a heavy user of internet radio, mostly Pandora. It is in the specs that these support internet radio including Pandora. But do they support any of the controls of the stations such as rating songs up/down, skipping songs ect. can I use my own custom stations?

I noticed somewhere that the internet radio stations all come through vTuner is this true or will it come directly from Pandora, etc.?

I have a paid Pandora (PandoraOne) subscription that gives me a higher quality stream of music will I be able to get the higher quality stream on the receiver directly?

Is there any display on the unit (or TV) of what is playing on the internet station? Is there anything displayed on the TV when these are tuned into an internet station?

This receiver will also be used often for watching movies/TV. Currently when playing movies through the TV speakers (Sharp Aquos) the dialog will be too quite so I want to pair the receiver with some speakers that will be sure to give clear dialog. So I was thinking Klipsch HD 300 or 500 5.1 system would be a good match, opinions? Or would I be better off going with Polk’s in the same price range?

Thanks for your help,
David

Hi David and Welcome to Audioholics,

Pandora will play back with one of these two Onkyo models.

As for support for station's tuning, etc., it's up to your player features, like a blu-ray player with Pandora access.

What comes in must come out the same way, so the receiver willl not improve it; but with Audyssey superimposed, you'll be gaining greatly, if you know what I mean (balanced audio surround quality...).

The display is dependent of your player.

Good quality speakers from Klipsch or Polks would be just fine with either one of these two great receivers.

Cheers,
Bob

Still searching

I just wish to add from my prior post; I'm not yet familiar with Pandora with the newer Onkyo receivers, but will eventually get a better understanding as to their set of operations (tuning stations, orders, capabilities, etc.) and their various type of display, plus more...

And if someone knows more already, please be my guest; I'm always in search of more knowledge, as our OP also is.

* I've got some catchup to do...

Cheers,
Bob

yes, you can rate up and down songs and skip. it's a little rudimentary in the fact that either you have to have the monitor out setup, or fumble your way through the display, but yes it does do that functionality.

i'll see if i can take some pictures and post them.
