Onkyo HT-R340 feedback noise when all 3 front speakers connected

I guess the questions are whether there is a buzz with just your receiver plugged in and nothing else connected to the receiver. It would be pretty hard to get a ground loop just involving rear speakers.

I wonder if you could have nicked some wiring? Try running speaker cables direct from your receiver to the rears and see if that stops the buzz.
TLS, I proceeded with step one, and now the buzz is gone! Hah. I failed to mention that there are mch analogs connecting an outboard amplifier, as well as a RCA/XLR to a subwoofer (commercial) amplifier.

Regardless, I pulled out 3 out of the 4 HDMI cables (left my cd source, in this case BDP connected), and no buzz. So, one by one, I replugged each, and checked for buzz. It's all connected, and now no buzz. :)

Maybe a loose HDMI cable? They seemed relatively secure. An HDMI board that is starting to be temperamental?

Anyways, I appreciate the good help doc!

I understood you had the issue only with the speakers connected and nothing else.

From what you now say this may have been a ground loop, but that would not introduce a radio station. I don't see how this problem could have entered via inputs as you said the sound did not alter with volume. Anyway you have it solved so be happy.

Hi TLS Guy, note the last few messages in this thread were not by me, the OP. They were by another guy who asked a different question after you had answered all my questions. I had mentioned the feedback sound did not change when changing the volume, but jostenmeat didn't. He had a totally different issue.

jostenmeat, I didn't mind you asking your question in this thread since my questions had been answered, but now you see you might have gotten a better response if you had started a new thread... Anyways you've "solved" your issue so that's ok, but you could have saved TLS Guy some confusion by starting a new thread too.

That's OK. Being a stupid old man, I completely forgot about jostenmeat's different problem yesterday.
