Turn the speakers off and see if it still does it. If not, you may have a shorted speaker wire or a problem with a speaker. If it still does it, find a way to save your configuration and look for a way to do a hard reset.
How much space is around the receiver? Onkyo receivers run hotter than most and need clearance or forced air to keep them cool. Running it hard without good ventilation will kill it.
