Onkyo DR-S2.2 Reciever "SP-B On" problem

I have a Onkyo DR-S2.2 DVD reciever. I have a two year old daughter that likes to press the buttons. She has it stuck on something to where if you try and press anything audio related on it (Surround, T-D, SP Setup, Test Tone...) the reciever displays "SP-B On" and will never change. The sound still works, except for the center speaker which nothing comes out of.

This has happened once before and I figured out a certain sequence of buttons that undid it but I can't remember it now. There's nothing in the manual about this code and only one page that comes up on google or yahoo for it, which was a forum post and the guy said pressing the A+B and Surround button worked but it doesn't for me.

Anyone know what this SP-B On code even is and how to get rid of so I can control the audio again and get sound out of my center speaker?

thanks so much.

Are there speaker A and B buttons on the face of the receiver? The regular receivers have dedicated A and B buttons on the front panel.

Onkyo is fairly consistent with their remote control codes over the years so if you can get any other Onkyo remote that should work.

Yeah, there is an A+B button on the reciever but anytime I push it, even with other buttons, all I get is the SP-B on display. It's not the onkyo remote doesn't work, everything else on the remote works except that the audio buttons all display that SP-B on thing. The buttons on the reciever show it too.

Receiver reset

Most receivers have a reset sequence where you hold down a couple buttons and power on the receiver. Check the manual for the procedure.

yeah, i've already tried the reset according to the manual and it doesn't appear to do anything. "SP-B On" still shows up when i try to switch stereo modes and the center speaker still doesn't work.

just to let you know i emailed onkyo and the emaied back saying that it was as simple as switching the A+B to just the speaker A function. Mine was set to Speaker A+B. This worked! thanks for your help.

Believe it or not I was going to suggest that (setting speakers to A only)!

Interesting...it didn't work when pressing the A+B button until an Onkyo email said to do that and now it works?

If there is only one A+B button instead of separate A and B speaker buttons like on their regular receivers then it should cycle A, B, A+B, A, etc each time you press it.

Interesting indeed. Sounds like in your previous post you tried that but it didn't work?

I agree with you here MDS. Kinda strange really.
