Hi everyone.

I'm having a HDMI Audio issue with my TX-NR809 and bluray panas. Btt 770

Everything were ok till yesterday when i tried to watch the police concert
Via bluray and discovered that I can see video but not the sound.
av 809 displays still: bd/DVD no signal - but video works
Other connections are ok
Cable - ok
Xbox - ok

Double checked but there is something wrong connected
Still non sound :(

Any ideas about this issue ?, is it my HDMI OUT/ in broken?

Any advise will be welcome.
Thanks

This problem was reported by other owners of the 809 and other Onkyo models. It was a failure of the HDMI board caused by a chip, the IC3001. I understand that Onkyo would help you even if your unit was out of warranty. I also own the 809 and based on advice of many bought a 2 year warranty extension for $65.

Hi and welcome. Contact them via phone or email they will fix it without warranty like husky said. You will need a copy of the sales receipt, Serial number and pay for shipping to them only. I think they pay for the shipping back. From what I read It takes 2-3 weeks.

No nothing wrong with the connections as you stated you checked them. It's a common issue with some models and they will replace the HDMI board, which is the problem. Seems like everything was working fine, then one day BAM no sound. Am I right? Call them and tell them what's going on and they will tell you what to do. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Hi, Robert. I want to see if I understand.

On the Onkyo, all of the other HDMI connections work except for the blu-ray player, correct?

You mentioned trying the optical connection - did you do that, and if so, did you get audio from the blu-ray player?

I'm wondering if a setting got changed on the blu-ray player. I can check out that manual here in a second.

Okay, Robert - are you using the main unit from an SC-BTT770 home theater system? If not, let me know. If so, check if the "HDMI Audio Output" is set to "On" (see page 39 of the owner's manual). If that is set to "Off", then that player won't output audio over the HDMI output, but rather will try to play it through the speaker terminals on the Panasonic unit.

Hi Adam
Yes, scbtt770 hooked up onkyo 809. I configured both units a some times ago and Until evening yesterday everything worked perfectly. HDMI audio output was setting to on.
Other connection work except bluray player.
I didn't get audio from bluray via optical connection but I.am not sure if I did it correctly :(
I was trying to reconfigure connection so many times that I lost myself :)

Yep, it's easy to start making changes in the menu and then lose track. :)

Let's try some things to narrow down if it's the Onkyo, the blu-ray player, or some simple setting that got messed up.

First, try connecting the HDMI from the blu-ray player into the HDMI port that you are currently using for your Cable connection. Now, select the Cable input on the Onkyo, and play a disc on the blu-ray player. If you get sound, then you know it has something to do with the Onkyo. If you don't get sound, then it's something to do with either the blu-ray player or the cable. Please try that test and report back, because the next steps will depend on what happens.

Try connecting the bluray to the tv alone and see if it works. oops I guess we posted at the same time.

Hi Adam
I did yet hard reset and it works :)
I thing about tv cabinet. It's very good fitted to AV. From above av has got 2.5 inch free space. May be there is a little bit to hot ? I read somewhere that warm ambient air cause the problem with HDMI interfaces

Glad you got it working. Lower the OHM to 4 and it should run cooler.
