Onkyo 674 vs Pioneer 1016

Looking for HDMI A/V receiver for 2nd entertainment room. This room is about 14x20. Will be configured with Panny 60U plasma, Klipsch reference speakers 5x1, XBOX 360. Hope to add Blu-Ray DVD and PS3 in future. Budget is $800 so any other suggestions would be great!

Doesn't the Onkyo accept HDMI audio, whereas the 1016 simply passes it through?

For that I'd spend the extra $150 for the Pioneer Elite VSX-84TXSi It pricegrabbers for a tad over $900.
