Onkyo 601 volume problems

When I turn on my Onkyo 601 the volume says "99", the knob will not change it. I have unplugged it and then back on and no change. What could be the problem?

Does the volume change, or is it just the display stuck on 99?

The volume number 99 does not change when the knob is turned. Could it be some kind of code?

So I assume the volume does change, not the display. If that is the case it likely needs a new LED display. Onkyo are known for LED display problems.

I'm curious now too. Does it get louder and quieter while the display stays the same or is the volume and the display not working?
