One uber sub vs 2 great subs

It sounds like to me the advantages of dual subs are that you get a more even response across several listening positions. Assuming that is correct my HT has just me down there playing games like 75% of the time and since I am only one man I can only sit in one place at a time. The other times my wife sits next to me when we watch movies. It seems that in my situation one uber sub would work better than dual subs.

Dual subs can give you better response from a single listening position, as well. I actually ran 3 in my HT setup at various positions around a very oddly shaped room at my old place (back in the days before the WAF existed for me) and was able to achieve a true omni-directional response. Something that was impossible with just one sub, irrespective of where I placed it in the room.

well, just to update,

i just ordered a textured black PB13 ultra today. So sick of researching, and i figure i can always upgrade to a second unit later... i know there are better subs out there but most of them are either too big, too expensive, or too expensive to ship to Canada (or in Epiks case, unwilling to ship to Canada at all). I was torn between the PB13 ultra and the submersive but the submersive would end up costing $700 more with taxes, shipping, brokerage fees and the difference in the dollar. SVS has a Canadian dealer, so the price was pretty decent.

I have mainly a single seating position, so i guess i'll try a single ultra; i've never had a home theatre subwoofer before so i'm sure it'll blow me away Now i have to do the sub crawl, but i'll make sure nobody is home before i do it
