I have been an eBay member for 15 years, and only purchase from sellers who have at least a 98% feedback record, preferably 99 to 100%.
Should someone have received an item which doesn't correspond to the description of the listed item, he has the protection from eBay, and PayPal if he paid using their service. Once, I had bought a used amp from someone and never received it. I had tried to reach the seller and his phone line was no longer active. I was totally reimbursed by eBay.
Once, I bought a used Revox A-77 tape deck. When I received it, the wood encasing was completely damaged through transit. The seller didn't want to refund me despite the fact that he hadn't securely packaged the item. I sent proofs with pictures of the wood case in pieces to eBay, and they debited the seller's account and refunded me.
I have been selling items on eBay for over 10 years. Sometimes, I question some buyer's honesty. I have had problems with European buyers who didn't act in good faith , treating me as a swindler. Now, I only sell to Canadians and Americans and my overall experience is rather good. Since then, I have been keeping my feedback score at 100%.
