My next upgrade, whenever my poor budget will allow, will be a receiver or pre/pro setup. I will apply it my current system, but with an eye toward my next upgrade...new speakers. I've narrowed it down to 3 brands of speakers, all of which carry a burden of 4 or 6 ohm nominal, relatively inefficient speakers. There will be 6 of these in the surround system.
The advice I seek is your input on with what best to drive the future speakers and which will provide no loss of sonic capability. My preference is a value purchase of a single receiver (because of convenience/rack space availability. As an example, will the Yammie 2600 suffice?). If the pre/pro route is necessary (necessary!!), then I truly need guidance concerning value pricing/performance. I have no clue about this application.
The speakers I have in mind (almost daydreaming now...but pepsi bottles are being saved) are Axiom M80ti, Aerial 7B, and possibly either RBH 1266 or ACI Panarama. As usual, your advice and wisdom is much appreciated.
